Yarding 1420 Change -570
After a two week break Gunnedah reduced their penning by 570 head to offer 1420 mostly good quality cattle. The regular backgrounders and feeders attended and operated to a much dearer market along with exporters who were very competitive through the cow offering.
Drafts of weaner steers were significantly dearer topping at 502c/kg and heifers to similar strong trends from restockers gaining 29c/kg and selling 290c to 406c/kg.
Yearling steers under 280kgs to background gained 30c/kg 325c to 450c/kg .
There were similar rises for feeder steers under 330kgs selling to 450c/kg. Medium weight feeder steers saw a modest rise of 7c/kg better and drafts of similar weight heifers to feed saw a big rise in trends of up to 26c/kg 340c to 390c/kg. Heavy feeder steers sold to a considerable rise 304c to 425c/kg.
A lapse in quality saw light background heifers shed 21c/kg 280c to 373c/kg however heavier drafts gained 13c/kg to sell to 376c/kg. Medium weight heifers to background also stronger with a rise of up to 26c/kg.
Heavy feeders were 16c/kg better.
Grown heifers to process gained 27c/kg and feeder made 280c to 320c/kg. All cows sold to dearer trends with three score cows 33c/kg dearer and the four score drafts gaining 23c/kg and topping at 333c/kg. The heavy bulls 275c to 310c/kg.
