Numbers remained the same as the previous market for a yarding of 4550 at Wagga this morning. It was a good quality yarding with prime cattle to suit processors and plenty of good lines of lighter condition cattle to suit feeders and backgrounders. The market sold to a dearer trend and there was strong competition across the board. All of the major buyers were operating.
Young cattle to the trade were up to 14c/kg 0dearer with prime vealer and yearling steers selling from 404c to 503c/kg and prime heifers from 366c to 488c/kg. Feeder steers and heifers were up to 14c/kg dearer with steers selling from 446c to 542c/kg and heifers from 394c to 468c/kg. Young cattle to the restockers and backgrounders sold to mixed trends with young steers dearer from 428c to 551c/kg and young heifers were slightly cheaper from 404c to 458c/kg.
Grown steers and heifers to process were much dearer with prime grown steers selling to 495c/kg and prime grown heifers making from 410c to 478c/kg. Cows to the processors were dearer with 2 and 3 scores selling from 305c to 406c/kg and 4 score cows 11c/kg dearer from 390c to 428c/kg to average 416c/kg. Heavy bulls to process sold to 384c/kg.
