Yarding 5800 Change +1250

Numbers lifted by 1250 for a yarding of 5800 cattle. It was a good quality yarding with a good supply of heavy cows, feeders and lighter conditioned cattle with solid bidding on feeders and backgrounders.  Cows were back slightly but quality young cattle with preferred heavier weights for the feeders sold well. There was also strong competition for cattle to process and all of the regular buyers were operating in a market that overall sold to a cheaper trend.

Young cattle to the trade were much cheaper with prime vealers and yearlings selling from 384c to 504c/kg. Feeder steers and heifers were up to 11c cheaper on the lighter weights with the better quality, heavyweight feeder cattle up to 19c/kg dearer.  Feeder steers sold from 380c to 528c/kg and feeder heifers 368c to 464c/kg. Young cattle to restockers and backgrounders were cheaper with young steers selling to 526c/kg with most around the 500c/kg and young heifers from 338c to 462c/kg, averaging 403c/kg.

Grown steers and heifers were 15c to 30c/kg cheaper with prime grown steers selling from 440c to 480c/kg and prime grown heifers from 389c to 440c/kg. Cows were cheaper with 2 and 3 scores to processors selling from 272c to 406c/kg. Prime heavyweight 4 score cows sold from 390c to 409c/kg. Heavy bulls to the processors were slightly dearer selling from 338c to 398c/kg.
