Yarding 4550 Change +250

Numbers increased by 240 from the previous market for a yarding of 4550. It was a good quality yarding with prime heavyweight cows to suit processors and good quality steers and heifers for feeders and backgrounders.  The market sold to a cheaper trend on prime young cattle to processors but was dearer to the feeders and backgrounders for the better quality cattle. One major cow buyer was not operating and this would have contributed to the cheaper cow prices.

Young cattle to the trade were cheaper with prime vealer and yearling steers selling from 418c to 499c/kg and similar heifers 360c to 476c/kg. Feeder steers and heifers were up to 30c/kg dearer with steers selling from 450c to 524c/kg and feeder heifers from 395c to 468c/kg. Young cattle to restockers and backgrounders were firm to dearer on the lightweights with young steers selling from 400c to 580c/kg and young heifers 378c to 452c/kg.

Grown steers and heifers to the processors were up to 30c/kg cheaper with prime grown steers selling from 406c to 445c/kg and prime grown heifers 378c to 452c/kg. Cows to the processors were up to 30c/kg cheaper. Two and three score cows sold from 280c to 396c/kg and prime heavyweight 4 score cows 10c/kg cheaper from 390c to 420c/kg. Heavy bulls to the processors were up to 30c/kg dearer, selling to 384c/kg.
