CATTLE listings lifted another six percent this week to reach 10,257 head on AuctionsPlus last week, with most steer and heifer categories showing further improvement in price.
Clearance remained strong at 84pc.
Price rises were most noticeable in heavier lines of steers and heifers, which met strong processor activity, making up 11.16pc of the sold offering. Despite a reduced clearance, all categories experienced price rises except for steers less than 200kg (-78c), steers 280-330kg (-3c) and NSM cows & calves (-21c).
Steers 330-400kg registered a smaller offering of 1719 head, averaging of 289c/kg, up 2c from last week to achieve an 88pc clearance. Prices ranged from 233-352c.
From Walgett, NSW 170 Angus steers 12-15 months averaging 386kg split between two even lots returned 295c/kg and will travel to buyers near Mungindi and Toowoomba, QLD.
Steers +400kg registered an offering of 1017 head, slightly larger (4pc) than the previous week, and averaged 278c/kg up 1cfrom last week for an 83pc clearance. Prices ranged from 209-302c.
From Wagga Wagga, NSW 114 Angus/Hereford steers in two even lots 14-16 months averaging 463kg returned 280c/kg and will travel to a buyer near Toowoomba, QLD.
Heifers 200-280kg registered a larger offering of 931 head, compared to 745 the previous week, averaging 305c/kg, up 14c from last week for a 78pc clearance. Prices ranged from 210-408c.
From Clermont, Central QLD 62 Brangus and Red Brangus heifers 9-13 months averaging 243kg returned 210c/kg and will travel to a buyer near Moura, QLD. A further 90 Ultrablack heifers from the same property, 233kg at 9-13 months, made 327c/kg.
Heifers 280-330kg registered a larger offering of 1223 head and averaged 301c/kg, up 11c from last week for an 82pc clearance. Prices ranged from 180-457c.
From Bingara, NSW 35 Angus heifers 14-15 months averaging 289kg returned 457c/kg and will travel to a buyer near Toowoomba, QLD.
Breeding females
Breeding females were in strong demand despite a larger offering and all categories achieved higher prices ($/head basis), except for SM heifers.
PTIC cows registered a larger offering of 422 head and averaged $1687/head – up $354 from last week for a 97pc clearance. From Inverell, NSW 54 Angus cows 3-4 years averaging 546kg returned $1790/head and will travel to a buyer near Lavington, NSW.
PTIC heifers registered a smaller offering of 232 head and averaged $1706/head – up $408 from last week for a 98pc clearance. From Mortlake, VIC 40 Angus heifers 26-28 months averaging 526kg returned $2060/head and will travel to a buyer near Marlo, VIC.
