Further falls in young cattle categories in 10,513 head AuctionsPlus offering

From Molong, NSW these 154 unweaned Angus steers split across two even lots aged 6-7 months and averaging 224kg returned $600/head or 268c/kg and will both travel to a buyer in Inverell, NSW. A further 93 of their lighter Red Angus herd-mates 205kg made from 199-220c/kg.

Cattle listings recorded a rise of 20 percent to 10,513 head on AuctionsPlus this week, with most young cattle categories continuing their sustained fall in value.

Clearance improved on last week to 42pc, although still quite subdued, in what was another tough market.

Breeding stock results were mixed, with station-mated heifers up 15c/kg and station-mated cows with calves at foot up 92c, but most others were down.

Steers 200-280kg registered a smaller offering of 1030 head and averaged 235c/kg, down 26c on last week for a 63pc clearance. Prices ranged from 147-274c.

Steers 280-330kg registered a larger offering of 1569 head and averaged 223c/kg, down 37cfrom last week for a 37pc clearance. Prices ranged from 137-258c.

Among larger lines offered this week, 190 Santa x Shorthorn weaned steers 5-11 months averaging 283kg from Winton, western Queensland made 258c/kg or $730 a head.

Heavy feeder steers +400kg dropped another 68c this week to average 240c/kg.

Heifers

Heifers 200-280kg registered a larger offering of 902 head and averaged 180c/kg, down 9cfrom last week for a 58pc clearance. Prices ranged from 137-258c.

Heifers 280-330kg saw a larger offering of 1007 head and averaged 190c/kg, down another 6c/kg from last week for a 37pc clearance. Prices ranged from 154-222c.

Breeding Stock

Station-mated heifers saw 407 offered this week, but while lifting 15c/kg in average value, still only averaged 207c/kg.

An offering of 836 cows and calves saw pairs average $1123, down $142 from last week.

PTIC cows registered a smaller offering of 118 head and averaged $989/head – down $85 from last week. From Berridale, NSW Angus four-year-old PTIC cows sold for $1000/head.
