Feeder steers to 183c at Roma

Weekly Roma Store Sale press report from Martin Bunyard:

A total of 3837 head of cattle were penned at Roma’s Store Sale on Tuesday. It was a mixed quality yarding of cattle.

Feeder steers in the 400-550kg range topped at 183c/kg and averaging 172c/kg, while steers in the 350-400kg range reached 178c/kg and averaged 165c/kg and steers in the 280-350kg range reached 190c/kg and averaged 162c/kg.

Weaner steers in the 220-280kg range reached 199c/kg and averaged 171c/kg, while weaners under 220kg topped at 181c/kg and averaged 151c/kg.

Alice Downs Partners, Alice Downs, Morven, sold Santa-cross steers to 199c/kg for 225kg to make $450/head.

The Richards family, Plain Farm, Roma, sold Santa-cross steers to 190c for 295kg to return $560.

Livistona Grazing, Palm Vista, Taroom, sold Limousin-cross steers to 183c for 452kg to make $829.

Bill Roberts Partnership, Ridgelands, Injune, sold Charolais steers to 181c for 438kg to return $794.

S Kidman & Co, Durham Downs, Eromanga, sold Santa-cross steers to 180c for 263kg to make $473. They also sold Santa-cross heifers to 188c for 201kg to return $379.

The Chalmers family, McDonald Downs, Alice Springs, sold Santa steers to 175c for 430kg to make $754.

The Blackett family, Tamanick, Mitchell, sold Hereford-cross steers to 175c for 403kg to make $705.

The Connolly family, Tetalga, Roma, sold Santa-cross steers to 170c for 394kg to return $670.

Heifers in the 350-450kg range reached 170c/kg and averaged 143c/kg.

Heifers in the 280-350kg range topped at 168c/kg and averaged 149c/kg.

Heifers in the 220-280kg range topped at 177c/kg and averaged 159c/kg, while heifers under 220kg topped at 188c/kg and averaged 168c/kg.

The Goodland family, Woodlands, Wandoan, sold Santa-cross heifers to 168c for 290kg to return $488.

Cows over 500kg hit 151c/kg and averaged 142c/kg, while cows 400-500kg topped at 147c/kg and averaged 128c/kg. Cows in the 300-400kg range made 128c/kg and averaged 104c/kg.

Cows and calves sold to $760/unit.

Bulls up to 400kg reached 163c/kg and average 136c/kg.
