David Monk 09/05/2025

Yarding 3915 Change -525

Numbers were back by 500 for a yarding of 3915. It was a mixed yarding with only fair numbers of young cattle to suit the feeders and processors and there were limited numbers of grown steers and heifers. There were good numbers of cows and there were some large consignments of plainer quality cattle in from the far west. Not all the regular buyers were present resulting in a tougher market.

Young cattle to the processors were up to 15c cheaper with prime vealers and yearlings selling from 298c to 396c/kg. The very best of the feeder steers were close to firm, most of the feeder steers and heifers though were 33c to 40c/kg cheaper. Feeder steers sold from 300c to 420c while the feeder heifers sold from 258c to 370c/kg. Young cattle to the backgrounders and restockers were up to 40c cheaper with the young steers selling to 432c while the young restocker heifers sold to 325c/kg.

Grown steers and heifers were 35c to 40c/kg cheaper. Prime grown steers sold from 310c to 391c while the prime grown heifers sold from 300c to 375c/kg. Cows were 28c to 40c cheaper with the 2 and 3 scores to the processors selling from 120c to 270c/kg. Prime heavy weight cows sold from 240c to 285c to average 275c/kg. Cows to the restockers were 40c to 60c cheaper selling from 185c to 262c/kg. Heavy bulls sold to 330c/kg.
