Dubbo sale 5 Feb 2026: Dry weather delivers surge in numbers to 8400, cow prices soften

With conditions remaining dry the numbers keep rolling in with numbers doubling for a yarding of 8400. Once again there were large numbers of cows with their young calves as the sell off continues. There were fair numbers of prime cattle in all sections along with some good runs to suit the feeders.  There were only limited numbers though of well finished grown steers and heifers.

Young cattle to the trade were 5c to 8c cheaper with prime vealers and yearlings selling from 420c to 470c/kg. Feeder steers were 5c to 9c cheaper while the feeder heifers were 12c/kg cheaper. Feeder steers sold from 400c to 498c while the feeder heifers sold from 356c to 456c/kg. Young cattle to the restockers were firm to dearer with the young steers selling to 530c while the young restocker heifers sold to 434c/kg.

Grown steers finished 12c dearer while the grown heifers were 15c/kg cheaper.  Prime grown steers sold from 420c to 476c while the prime grown heifers sold from 380c to 435c/kg. Secondary cows were up to 30c cheaper while the prime heavy weights were 12c/kg cheaper. 2 and 3 score cows to the processors sold from 250c to 362c/kg. Prime heavy weight cows sold from 348c to 386c to average 370c/kg. The restockers paid from 260c to 354c while the feeders paid from 315c to 365c/kg. Heavy bulls sold to 408c/kg.
