Dubbo sale 22 May 2025: Selling in the gentle rain

David Monk 23/05/2025

Yarding 2810 Change -290

We had gentle rain all morning at the Dubbo saleyards where the numbers were back by 300 for a yarding of 2810. It was a fair quality yarding with a good selection of young cattle to suit the feeders and only odd lots to suit the processors. There were better numbers of grown steers and heifers and there were the usual runs of cattle lacking finish due to the dry conditions in the far west.

Young cattle to the trade were around firm with prime vealers and yearlings selling from 340c to 410c/kg. Feeder steers and heifers were 10c to 15c dearer with the feeder steers selling from 370c to 422c/kg. Feeder heifers sold from 336c to 385c/kg. Young cattle to the restockers were also dearer with the young steers selling to 442c while young bulls to the restockers sold to 460c/kg. Young heifers going back to the paddock sold to 380c/kg.

Grown steers were firm while the grown heifers were 12c dearer. Prime grown steers sold from 340c to 390c while the prime grown heifers sold from 344c to 372c/kg. Cows were up to 25c dearer with the 2 and 3 scores selling from 170c to 275c/kg. Prime heavy weight cows sold from 270c to 318c to average 300c/kg. Cows to the restockers sold from 108c to 232c/kg. Heavy bulls sold to 328c/kg.
