
Yarding 8040 Change +4740
The strong markets throughout the week combined with the very dry conditions found plenty of cattle with a yarding of 8040 this number up by 4700 on the previous sale. It was a much plainer quality yarding with large consignments of plainer conditioned cattle showing the effects of the dry. There were still though fair numbers of young cattle to suit the feeders along with some well finished grown steers, heifers and cows.
Limited numbers of young cattle to the trade were cheaper with prime vealers and yearlings selling from 374c to 439c/kg. Feeder steers were 10c dearer, feeder heifers though were 15c/kg cheaper. Feeder steers sold from 382c to 518c while the feeder heifers sold from 356c to 456c/kg. Young cattle to the restockers and backgrounders were dearer with the young steers selling to 538c while the young restocker heifers sold to 416c/kg.
Grown steers were 6c dearer while the grown heifers were 11c to 14c/kg cheaper on quality. Prime grown steers sold from 434c to 474c while the prime grown heifers sold from 410c to 440c/kg. Secondary cows were close to firm while the prime heavy weights were 15c/ kg cheaper. 2 and 3 score cows to the processors sold from 280c to 390c while the prime heavy weights sold from 370c to 406c to average 395c/kg. Cows to the restockers sold from 245c to 410c/kg. Heavy Bulls were dearer selling to 433c/kg.
