Yarding 5014 Change +1014
Following last weekend’s disappointing result of no rain numbers lifted by 1000 for a yarding of 5014. It was a mixed yarding with good numbers of prime cattle in all sections along with large numbers of far western cattle a number of which are starting to show the effects of the dry season. There were limited numbers of weaner cattle yarded. Most of the usual buyers were operating in a solid market.
Young cattle to the trade were 6c cheaper with prime vealers and yearlings selling from 290c to 386c/kg. Feeder steers were 6c to 12c dearer and the best of the feeder heifers were also dearer. A large percentage of the feeder heifers though were 10c cheaper with quality a factor. Feeder steers sold from 295c to 426c while the feeder heifers sold from 268c to 365c/kg. Young cattle to the backgrounders remain solid with young steers selling to 433c/kg.
Grown steers and heifers were 9c dearer and more in places with the prime grown steers selling from 300c to 388c/kg. Prime grown heifers sold from 300c to 360c/kg. Cows were 12c to 18c dearer with the 2 and 3 scores selling from 230c to 281c/kg. Prime heavy weight cows sold from 275c to 325c to average 298c/kg. Plain conditioned cows sold to the fatteners selling from 160c to 230c while the restockers purchased cows to calve down paying from 250c to 291c/kg. Heavy bulls were 10c dearer selling to 320c/kg.
