The supply of cattle continues to decline with the Dalby agents yarding 4846 head, 920 less than the previous sale and overall quality was very mixed. The regular export buyers were in attendance and operating along with a fair panel of feeder buyers and restockers.
Light weight yearling steers returning to the paddock lifted in price and medium weight yearling steers to feed also showed some improvement. Heavy weight yearling steers to feed experienced no change in price. However most classes of heifers sold to a cheaper trend of 5c to 24c/kg. Cows received mixed results with heavy weight cows remaining close to firm while the remainder lost 6c to 9c/kg.
Light weight yearling steers returning to the paddock made to 422c with a good sample averaging from 396c to 411c/kg. Yearling steers to feed for the domestic market made to 396c with most sales from 366c to 374c/kg. Heavy weight yearling steers to feed made to 374c to average 360c/kg. Light weight yearling heifers to restockers or background averaged from 258c to 283c with sales to 304c/kg. Medium weight yearling heifers to feed made to 318c to average 293c/kg. Heavy weight yearling heifers to feed made to 322c to average 291c/kg.
Bullocks made to 342c to average 334c/kg. Heavy export heifers averaged 317c and made to 319c/kg. Medium weight 2 score cows made to 259c to average 239c/kg. Heavy weight 3 score cows averaged 273c and the very best of the heavy weights made to 305c to average 285c/kg. Heavy weight bulls made to 290c/kg.

Good heavy cattle sold to a firm market this week at Dalby, with some good lines of young store cattle sold to a dearer trend. Rain is setting in around these areas which will show in cattle numbers for the next few weeks.
