Dalby sale 9 July 2025: Over 2000 increase in cattle yarded

The supply of stock into the Dalby saleyards increased by over 2000 head to 6679. A large number of 1,730 cows and 340 bulls were included in the lineup.  Export buyer attendance was good with the most support from southern operators. The regular feed and trade buyers plus restockers were present and active.

Light weight yearling steers returning to the paddock continued to receive strong competition and sold to a dearer market in places. Medium and heavy weight yearling steers to feed lifted in price by 10c to 20c/kg. Light weight yearling heifers to restockers sold to a firm market. Yearling heifers to feed improved in price especially top quality lines.  Bullocks lifted in price by 20c/kg. All classes of cows sold to a dearer trend with the better heavy weight cows 16c to 18c/kg dearer.

Light weight yearling steers to restockers made to 478c to average from 420c to 433c/kg. Yearling steers to feed for the domestic market made to 458c to average from 415c to 423c//kg. Heavy weight yearling steers to feed made to an isolated 472c with most from 391c to 400c/kg. Light weight yearling heifers returning to the paddock made to 366c with most sales 317c to 318c/kg. Medium weight yearling heifers to feed made to an isolated 420c to average from 342c to 349c/kg. Heavy weight yearling heifers also made to an isolated 414c to average 339c/kg.

Heavy grown steers to export processors made to 412c and bullocks made to 402c to average 391c/kg. Heavy weight export heifers made to 412c to average 374c/kg with the best returning $2,505/head. Medium weight 2 score cows averaged 278c and made to 290c/kg. Heavy weight 3 score cows averaged 314c and the best of the heavy weights made to 348c to average 335c/kg. Heavy weight bulls made to 340c/kg.

Increased yarding in Dalby with all regular feed, trade and processor buyers in attendance, as well as continued support from southern processors. All kill categories were firm to dearer, as well as feeder cattle also selling to dearer trends. Weaner cattle also sold to a firm market.
