Yarding 2672 Change -153
A combination of very little rain across most of the supply area, and the final sale for 2020 at Dalby, saw the supply of stock reduced slightly to 2,672 head to remained within 150 head of the previous weeks level.
Cattle were drawn from a wide area of the state, and included in the lineup were 1,100 head from five vendors across western districts.
Export buyer attendance was not as good as the previous week, however the regular feed and trade buyers, plus local and interstate restockers were in attendance and active in the market.
Light weight yearling steers and heifers returning to the paddock or background experienced strong support with average prices increasing by 30c/kg.
Yearling steers and heifers to feed for the domestic market sold to strong demand for the quality penned. The relatively small selection of cows sold to within a few cents of the previous week. Light weight yearling steers under 200kg made to 618c to average 566c/kg. A large sample of yearling steers under 280kg also made to 618c to average 522c/kg. Yearling steers to feed for the domestic market averaged from 429c to 458c, with the occasional sales to 480c/kg. Heavy weight yearling steers to feed averaged 404c and made to an isolated 444c/kg.
Light weight yearling heifers under 200kg made to 560c to average 511c/kg. Yearling heifers under 280kg averaged 494c and made to 558c and secondary lines averaged 399c/kg. Yearling heifers to feed averaged from 422c to 427c and made to 442c/kg. Plain condition cows returning to the paddock made to 294c to average 270c/kg. The best of the medium weight cows sold to processors at an average of 281c with sales to 286c/kg. Heavy bulls made to 330c/kg.
A pen of calves sold to open auction made to $820/head. The next cattle sale in Dalby will be held on 13th January 2021.

At the Dalby Sale this week, there was a good attendance of buyers, processors, feedlotters, restockers and southern restockers. Prime cattle held well, young cattle improved 30c to 40c. The last sale for the year could not be finished on a better note.
