Yarding 3685 Change -2541
Cattle numbers at Dalby reduced by 2,541 head to 3,685. A good panel of buyers was present covering all classes. Light weight yearling steers and heifers returning to the paddock experienced strong support. However, prices for the remainder followed the nationwide cheaper trend.
Medium and heavy weight yearling steers to feed averaged 7c to 12c/kg less however top end quality lines remained close to the previous sale. Medium and heavy weight yearling heifers to feed followed a similar trend to average 14c to 20c/kg cheaper with well bred lines firm. Cows to processors were cheaper by 10c to 14c/kg with restockers providing a base in the plain condition lines. However, a small sample of heavy grown steers to export processors remained firm.
Light weight yearling steers returning to the paddock made to an isolated 489c to average 416c and secondary lines averaged 355c/kg. Yearling steers to feed for the domestic market made to 430c to average from 381c to 393c/kg. Heavy weight yearling steers to feed made to the occasional 420c with most at 373c/kg. Light weight yearling heifers returning to the paddock averaged 332c and one with show ring potential made to 390c/kg. Medium weight yearling heifers to feed averaged from 307c to 327c and sold to 368c/kg. Heavy weight yearling heifers to feed made to 364c to average 323c/kg.
Heavy grown steers to export processors sold to 349c with some to the local trade market making to 391c/kg to return $2,305/head. A single manufacturing bullock made to 250c/kg and returned $2,375/head. Plain condition cows to restockers averaged from 243c to 253c and made to 278c/kg. Medium weight 2 score cows to processors made to 248c to average 243c/kg. Heavy weight 3 score cows averaged 262c and the best of the heavy weight cows made to 277c to average 273c/kg. Heavy weight bulls made to 316c/kg.

There was reduced yarding in Dalby this week with most categories selling to cheaper trends. Cows fell 10 to 15 cents cheaper while feeder Steers and Heifers reduced by 5 to 10 cents. Weaner Heifers remained firm.
