Yarding 6047 Change  -575

Dalby agents penned 6,047 head which included 1,260 from far western QLD and a handful from NSW and SA with 4,690 from the local supply area.

All the regular processors and feeder buyers attended and operated on a similar market to last week for the restocker and feeder cattle with the exception of the cows which saw prices reduce from 7c to 11c/kg.

A large sample of quality light weight yearling steers to background improved in price and sold to 450c to average 405c/kg. Yearling steers over 280kg to restockers made 420c to average 382c/kg. Yearling steers to feed for the domestic market sold to 392c and averaged 359c/kg. Heavy yearling steers to feed sold to 394c with those over 480kg to feed at 374c to average 336c/kg.

Yearling heifers in the 280-300kg range to background made 362c to average 320c/kg. Domestic feeder heifers sold to 364c and averaged 319c/kg.Heavy yearling heifers to feed averaged 321c and sold to 364c/kg.

Bullocks in the 500-600kg range to processors made 355c with those to feed at 332c/kg. Bullocks over 600kg to processors made 358c to average 326c/kg.

Grown heifers to processors averaged 302c and sold to 346c/kg. Medium weight plain cows to processors sold from 182c to 246c/kg. Heavy score 2 cows sold from 214c to 260c/kg. Good heavy cows sold from 265c to 305c/kg. Light weight bulls to restockers made 300c to average 265c/kg. Heavy bulls to processors averaged 251c and sold to 278c/kg.

Another big yarding in Dalby. The usual panel of buyers were present and active. Overall, the market held strong for the number of cattle sold and the variation in quality seen on the day. Heavy cows softened 5 to 10c/kg but still had sales over 300c/kg. Better lines of cattle were fully firm throughout the rest of the day with secondary lines and plainer cattle selling to a cheaper trend.
