Yarding 4747 Change -158
There was a small reduction in supply of 158 head to 4,747 at Dalby.
Overall quality across a number of classes was not up to the standard of the previous week. Export buyer attendance was not as good as the last sale however the southern exporter returned and was active in the market. A good panel of feed and trade buyers plus restockers were in attendance and operating.
Light weight yearling steers returning to the paddock were firm to 11c/kg better. Yearling steers to feed for the domestic market were 7c/kg dearer in places. Heavy weight yearling steers to feed sold to firm demand. Light weight yearling heifers to restockers improved in price by 9c to 12c/kg. Yearling heifers to feed were firm to 6c/kg dearer. Cows could not maintain the levels of the previous sale and lost 4c to 10c/kg with some of the reduction in price quality related.
Light weight yearling steers to restockers made to 477c to average from 429c to 435c/kg. Medium weight yearling steers to feed made to 444c and averaged from 400c to 428c/kg. Heavy weight yearling steers to feed averaged 382c with the very best to 438c/kg. Light weight yearling heifers to restockers made to 360c and averaged from 331c to 334c/kg. Medium weight yearling heifers to feed averaged from 330c to 336c and made to 366c/kg. Heavy weight yearling heifers to feed made to 371c to average 346c/kg.
A handful of bullocks made to 348c to average 343c/kg. A good lineup of grown heifers made to 360c to average 328c/kg. Full mouth bullocks sold to 300c/kg some returning $2,421/head. Cows to restockers made to 292c with most from 262c to 268c/kg. Medium weight 2 score cows to processors made to 266c to average 254c/kg. Heavy weight 3 score cows averaged 272c and the best of the cows averaged 289c and made to 300c/kg. Heavy weight bulls made to 320c/kg with one bull returning $3,494/head.
