Yarding 6104 Change +1839

The number of cattle penned at Dalby increased by 1839 to 6104. A large sample of 1300 cows were penned along with 332 bulls. Buyer representation across all classes was good and all were active in the market.
Light weight yearling steers returning to the paddock averaged 7c to 11c/kg better. Heavy weight yearling steers to feed regained some of the previous weeks losses to average 8c/kg dearer. Light weight yearling heifers to restockers sold to a dearer trend to average over 20c/kg better. Heavy grown steers and bullocks improved by 10c/kg. Cows also experienced some small improvements
Light weight yearling steers returning to the paddock averaged from 510c to 528c with sales to 559c/kg. Yearling steers to feed for the domestic market made to 526c to average from 468c to 497c/kg. Heavy weight yearling steers to feed made to 505c to average 476c/kg. Light weight yearling heifers to restockers made to 458c and averaged from 392c to 414c/kg. Yearling heifers to feed made to 448c and averaged from 388c to 400c/kg. Heavy weight yearling heifers to feed made to 430c to average 415c/kg
Bullocks made to 480c to average 459c and grown heifers to 440c/kg. Medium weight 2 score cows averaged 345c and made to 353c/kg. Heavy weight 3 score cows averaged 371c and the best of the cows made to 393c to average 383c/kg. Heavy weight bulls made to 404c/kg.

The Dalby sale delivered a very strong result, with a full buyer panel in attendance. Market conditions remained firm throughout the sale, with cows showing positive gains of 5 to 10c/kg, and top end cow lines reaching up to 390c/kg. Bullocks also experienced improved demand, lifting by around 10c/kg, while heavy heifers recorded the strongest improvement of the sale, advancing by approximately 20c/kg. Weaner steers attracted solid competition and sold 10 to 15c/kg dearer. Heifers overall held firm on last week’s levels, reflecting continued confidence in the market.
