Yarding 7923 Change 2253

Consignments were drawn from a wide area including Western Queensland, NSW and a large number of local cattle.

The yarding of young cattle consisted of a good supply of light and medium weight cattle, suitable for backgrounders and feeders.

The penning of light weight yearlings was of fairly plain quality, although there was several runs of well bred cattle offered.

Competition was strong with light yearling steers selling from 182c to 280c and the heifers sold from 156c to 244c/kg.

Medium weight feeder steers were up by 13c selling to a top of 325c for a average of 322c/kg. Medium weight heifers held firm selling to a top of 280c, while heavy trade yearling heifers were slightly dearer selling to 323c/kg.

The yarding of export cattle consisted of a small penning of bullocks and steers, and a good supply of grown heifers, only a few heavy steers, however there was a large supply of cows.

Quality of the cows was very mixed with cows showing the affects of the dry weather, however there was several runs of well finished 3 and 4 score medium and heavy weight cows through the sale.

Competition was strong with heavy cows selling firm to 5c dearer toping at 286c, while 3 score medium weights were 13c dearer to average 257c/kg. Heavy bulls met strong demand selling to a top of 311c/kg.
