Dalby sale 30 Oct 2024: Prices firm to slightly dearer

Yarding 4161 Change -373

Cattle numbers at Dalby reduced by 373 head to 4,161. Stock were drawn from a wide area with 503 head from one property in New South Wales. Included in the lineup this week was the largest number of bullocks seen for some time. Buyer attendance was good and all were operating.

Despite seasonal conditions starting to deteriorate in places light weight yearling steers returning to the paddock remained firm and the heifer portion averaged 16c/kg better. Medium and heavy weight yearling steers to feed averaged 8c to 12c/kg dearer. Yearling heifers to feed were firm to 5c/kg better. The lift in the standard of the bullocks combined with the larger numbers penned resulted in a small improvement in price. All classes of cows sold to within a few cents either way of the previous weeks level.

Light weight yearling steers returning to the paddock averaged from 381c to 386c with sales to 434c/kg. Yearling steers to feed for the domestic market made to 394c to average 374c and heavy weights averaged 364c and made to 380c/kg. Light weight yearling heifers to restockers made to 330c to average 296c/kg. Medium and heavy weight yearling heifers to feed averaged 308c and sold to 336c/kg.

A good sample of bullocks made to 347c to average 343c/kg. A very large number of full mouth bullocks averaged 314c and sold to 330c/kg. Medium weight 2 score cows made to 264c to average 254c/kg. Heavy weight 3 scores averaged 271c and made to 278c/kg. Good heavy weight cows made to 290c to average 284c/kg. Heavy weight bulls made to 304c/kg.

Heavy weight bulls made to 309c/kg.
