Dalby sale 3 Sep 2025: Cows firm to marginally better

The trend of larger numbers into the saleyards continued at Dalby with agents penning 6926 head a lift of 624. Cow numbers reduced from the high levels of the previous weeks with 982 head penned. A full panel of export buyers were in attendance and operating plus the regular feed and trade operators and restockers.

Light weight yearling steers returning to the paddock averaged 25c to 30c/kg better. Medium and heavy weight yearling steers to feed averaged 12c to 26c/kg dearer and considerably more on well bred lines. Light weight yearling heifers to restockers sold to a market 8c to 10c/kg dearer. Medium and heavy weight yearling heifers to feed continued to receive very strong support. Heavy grown steers and bullocks to export processors experienced very little change in price. The cow yarding was dominated by heavy weight classes and prices remained firm to marginally better.

Light weight yearling steers to restockers made to a top of 596c with a large number averaging from 533c to 540c/kg. Yearling steers to feed for the domestic market averaged from 519c to 520c and sold to 560c/kg. Heavy weight yearling steers to feed made to 544c with a very large sample from 491c to 499c/kg. Light weight yearling heifers returning to the paddock made to 460c to average 425c to 426c/kg. Medium weight yearling heifers to feed averaged 438c and made to 478c/kg. Heavy weight yearling heifers to feed averaged 443c with an isolated sale to 492c/kg.

Heavy grown steers made to 436c and bullocks made to 432c to average from 416c to 423c/kg. Heavy weight 3 score cows made to 381c to average 372c/kg. The best of the heavy weight cows made to 405c to average 394c/kg with some returning $3,095/head. Light weight bulls sold to restockers at 528c/kg. Heavy weight bulls made to 405c/kg.

An increased yarding in Dalby with all regular buyers in attendance including extra support for restocker cattle.  All categories held firm with feeder steers being 5c/kg dearer.  Restocker steers also saw a slight increase.
