Dalby sale 3 Dec 2025: Buyer attendance lifts

Yarding 7767 Change -1448

The supply of cattle for the second last sale before the annual break reduced by 1448 head to 7767 following the very large yarding the previous week. The number of cows penned reduced to 870 however the number of heifers climbed to 1,600 head. Buyer attendance was good with some additional support from southern operators.

Light weight yearling steers returning to the paddock generally sold close to the previous weeks level. The large supply of yearling steers to feed allowed average prices to vary however good quality lines experienced strong support. Despite the large supply of light weight yearling heifers penned buyers were able to absorb the increased numbers plus hold prices close to firm. The large number of yearling heifers to feed resulted in average prices easing however similar to the steers good quality lines were in demand. Around 600 bullocks were penned and average prices experienced a small reduction. Cows sold from firm to 4c/kg better.

Light weight yearling steers returning to the paddock made to a top of 602c with most sales from 530c to 535c poor quality lines averaged 415c/kg. Yearling steers to feed for the domestic market made to 548c to average from 475c to 516c/kg. Heavy weight yearling steers to feed made to 526c to average close to 500c/kg. Light weight yearling heifers returning to the paddock made to 465c to average from 425c to 443c/kg. Medium weight yearling to feed made to 476c to average from 418c to 429c/kg. Heavy weight yearling heifers to feed averaged 424c and made to 468c/kg.

Full mouth bullocks made to 430c to average 396c/kg. The 4 and 6 tooth bullocks made to 470c to average 459c/kg. Heavy weight 3 score cows averaged 385c and the best of the cows made to 420c to average 407c/kg. Heavy weight bulls made to 424c/kg.

Dalby presented a large yarding today, with a notable increase in backgrounder cattle on last week. Most categories sold to firm or slightly softer trends, with secondary types experiencing the greatest pressure. Cows held firm on last week while weaner steers cleared slightly.
