The market similar to last week early in the sale, developing slightly cheaper in the second round. Calves under 200kg did not break the $4 barrier topping at 398c/kg.
The quality of the weaners was mixed with the 200-280kg range yearling steers topping at 380c/kg. The majority of the weaners went via backgrounding in preparation for the feedlot with several restockers challenging prices. Heifers made to 348c to average 303c/kg across all yearling heifers.
Grown heifers to slaughter made to a top of 296c to average 264c/kg. Cows to slaughter made to a top of 240.2c/kg for an outstanding quality line from Millmerran. Bulls under 450kg made to a top of 298c and heavy bulls to slaughter made 250c/kg.
“With a great line up of store weaners we saw a slight decrease in prices due to seasonal conditions,” Grant Daniel Long’s Joe Lehman said.
“For people looking to buy weaners the next few weeks will see a great opportunity to restock.”
