Numbers eased back from the high levels of the previous week and a few consignments from far western districts were once again included in the line-up.

Buyer attendance was generally good however most were operating on reduced prices.

Light weight yearling steers returning to the paddock averaged 17c/kg less. Medium and heavy weight yearling steers to feed were 2c to 10c/kg cheaper. The yearling heifer portion to feed and restockers lost around 12c to 15c/kg. Heavy grown steers to export slaughter averaged 7c less while a small selection of bullocks lost 20c/kg. Cows also sold to a cheaper trend to lose a further 9c to 11c/kg with the plain condition lines the least affected.

Steer calves returned to the paddock made to 418.2c with mixed sex calves averaging 381c/kg. Light weight yearling steers to restockers made to 424.2c with a fairly large sample averaging 392c/kg. Medium weight yearling steers to feed mostly sold around 359c with some to 377.2c/kg. Heavy weight yearling steers to feed made to 356.2c to average 352c/kg.

Light weight yearling heifers to restockers averaged 359c the occasional pen reaching 382.2c/kg. The largest numbers of medium weight yearling heifers to feed averaged 335c and sold to 364.2c/kg. Heavy weights to feed averaged 309c and local trade lines made to 338.2c to average 333c/kg.

Heavy grown steers to export slaughter made to a top of 332.2c with most around 305c and bullocks made to 304.2c to average 387c/kg.

Medium weight 2 score cows returning to the paddock averaged 230c while the 3 scores to processors averaged 229c/kg. Good heavy cows made to 262.2c with a large sample at 243c/kg. Heavy bulls made to 282.2c/kg. – NLRS

Winter crop harvesting started in the local area and will remain in full swing for another week or so.

The market was easier but still very strong, especially for younger cattle.

There were very few light weaners which is normal at this time of year.
