Overall quality was generally good.

The large panel of export buyers included the return of a supermarket buyer plus most of the regular feeder operators and restockers.

Most classes could not maintain the high levels of the previous week.

Light weight yearling steers returning to the paddock averaged 30c/kg less. Medium and heavy weight yearling steers to feed averaged 40c/kg cheaper. Light weight yearling heifers to restockers or background lost over 30c/kg. Medium and heavy weight yearling heifers to feed averaged 24c to 28c/kg cheaper.

Cows continued to lose ground in price to average 7c to 20c/kg less.

Steer calves returning to the paddock made to 434c to average 428c, and heifer calves made to 404c to average 378c/kg. Light weight yearling steers returning to the paddock made to an isolated 454.2c to average 392c/kg. Yearling steers under 330kg to feed made to 414c to average 370c, while some to restockers made to 452c to average 385c/kg. Medium weight yearling steers to feed made to 381c to average 354c , and heavy weights to feed made to 368c to average 361c/kg.

Light weight yearling heifers made to 382c to average 345c/kg. Medium weight yearling heifers to feed made to 378c, with a large sample averaging 349c/kg. Heavy weight yearling heifers to feed made to 338c to average 328c, and certified grain feds made to 389.2c /kg. Medium weight plain condition cows returning to the paddock averaged 242c and made to 251.2c/kg. Medium weight 2 scores to processors averaged 237c and made to 246c, and 3 scores averaged 244c/kg.

Good heavy cows lost 7c, however similar to the previous sale larger losses would have occurred without the additional supermarket support, with isolated sales to 298.2c, with a fair sample averaging 273c/kg.

Heavy bulls made to 350c/kg.

With the many new rules, the Dalby Sale saw the young cattle very firm, fat cattle may be 10 to 15 cents cheaper but over all very good.
