Not all the usual export buyers were operating, and the supermarket support of the previous week was absent.

However there was an increased number of butchers and wholesalers in attendance and operating on suitable trade cattle.

Despite a few less export buyers operating, the relatively large selection of cows experienced a firm to slightly dearer market.

Light weight yearling steers to restockers averaged 395c and made to 438c/kg. Yearling steers to feed for the domestic market averaged from 352c to 371c, with occasional sales to 400c/kg. Heavy weight yearling steers suited to local trade market made to 384c to average 351c/kg.

Light weight yearling heifers to restockers or background made to 388c to average 347c/kg. Medium weight yearling heifers to feed for the domestic market averaged from 322c to 325c with sales to 366c/kg. Medium weight yearling heifers to processors averaged 334c and made to 374c/kg. Heavy weight yearling heifers to the trade market also average 334c and made to 385c/kg. Light weight cows averaged 209c and made to 242c, and medium weights made to 279c to average 255c/kg. Heavy cows made to 281.2c, a good selection averaging 269c/kg.
