Yarding 6622 Change  -81

There was a very small reduction in supply at Dalby however numbers still remained relatively high at 6,622 head.

Export buyer attendance was good and included some southern operators as well as the usual feed and trade buyers and restockers.

Light weight yearling steers returning to the paddock experienced very little change in price.

However the light weight heifers to restockers averaged 30c/kg less.

A large sample of heavy weight yearling steers to feed sold to a market 13c/kg better.

Heavy weight yearling heifers to feed were well supplied and averaged 20c/kg dearer.

Bullocks and grown heifers to export processors also sold to a dearer trend.

Heavy weights dominated the cow section and prices improved by 5c/kg. Light weight yearling steers returning to the paddock mostly sold from 382c to 384c with sales to 410c/kg.

Yearling steers to feed for the domestic market averaged from 368c to 369c with sales to 396c/kg. Heavy weight yearling steers to feed made to 394c to average 377c/kg.

Light weight yearling heifers to restockers made to 328c to average 277c/kg. Medium weight yearling heifers to feed averaged from 305c to 320c with isolated sales to 374c/kg. Heavy weight yearling heifers to feed attracted stronger support and averaged 341c and sold to 374c/kg.

Bullocks made to an isolated 369c to average 343c/kg.

Grant Daniel Long report

Another big yarding in Dalby this week, the usual panel of buyers were present and active and once again competing against strong support from a few southern processors. Despite the large amounts of cattle seen through saleyards the past couple of weeks the market was very solid. The cows softened 5-10c/kg but other categories were firm or better. Cows still got out to 320c/kg with a lot of good heavy cows from 290 to 305c/kg. Big heavy bullocks sold to 357c/kg. Heifers remained solid with better lines selling 315 to 345c/kg. Weaner steers were firm if a touch better and weaner heifers sold to strong demand with a lot of British and Euro cross weaner heifers from 300 to 320c/kg and better for top pens.
