Yarding 4500 head

There was a small increase in supply at Dalby sale yesterday, and overall quality was fair to good.

Heavy grown steers and bullocks were scarce however there were a much larger number of cows yarded. The usual panel of export processors was present and operating and there were some additional buyers in the feeder section. Restockers continued to provide very strong support across all classes of young light weight cattle despite the deterioration in seasonal conditions.

Medium and heavy weight yearling steers to feed averaged 1c to 4c/kg better while medium weight yearling heifers to feed experienced only quality related price changes. Heavy grown steers and bullocks averaged 7c to 10c/kg dearer. The larger supply of cows sold to a market 2c to 8c/kg better.

Some good lines of cows, feeder steers and young cattle were presented, even though local weather this week is really drying feed off.
