Dalby Sale 30 May 2018: Prices ease for most classes

Yarding 7099 Change 823

The continuing dry weather lifted the supply of stock by 823 head to 7,099 and included in the line-up were 1,600 head from far Western Queensland plus 1,300 head from New South Wales and a few from South Australia.

A full panel of export buyers was present and operating along with some interstate processors plus the usual feeder operators and restockers. Prices eased across
most classes with light weight yearling steers returning to the paddock averaging 8c/kg cheaper.

Medium and heavy weight yearling steers to feed averaged 3c to 8c/kg less. Yearling heifers also sold to a cheaper trend with the poor quality lines the most affected. Heavy grown steers and bullocks eased 3c to 8c/kg. A very large yarding of cows eased 8c to 9c and plain condition lines averaged 16c/kg less.

A few steer calves made to 269.2c while a very large number of mixed sex calves averaged 223c/kg. Light weight yearling steers returned to the paddock at 286.2c to average 262c/kg. Medium weight yearling steers to feed averaged 259c and made to 274.2c and poor quality lines averaged 235c/kg. Heavy weight yearling steers to feed made to the occasional 280.2c with the largest numbers in the early to mid 260c/kg range. Light weight yearling heifers to restockers or background averaged 224c and made to 242.2c/kg. Medium weight yearling heifers to feed averaged 240c and the poor quality lines made 205c/kg.

Heavy weight yearling heifers to feed made to 258.2c to average 243c/kg.

Heavy grown steers made to the occasional 274.2c with most around 261c/kg. Bullocks averaged close to 260c and made to 265.2c/kg. Medium weight 2 score cows averaged 164c and made to 178.2c/kg. The best of the medium weights made to 208.2c to average 199c/kg. A large selection of good heavy cows made to 212.2c to average 203c/kg. Heavy bulls made to
240c/kg.
