Buyer representation was good with the return of the previous weeks panel of buyers, however not all were operating in a generally dearer market.

The rain across some districts lifted the enthusiasm of a large number of cattle producers, resulting in prices improving across a number of classes.

Light weight yearling steers returning to the paddock averaged 35c/kg dearer. Yearling steers to feed for the domestic market averaged 26c/kg better, and heavy weight yearling steers to feed also improved in price.

Light weight yearling heifers experienced price improvements of 29c/kg. Medium and heavy weight yearling heifers to feed lifted in price by 22c to 25c/kg. Most classes of cows sold to a dearer trend with improvements of 14c to 22c/kg.

Light weight yearling steers returning to the paddock made to 360.2c with a good sample averaging 331c/kg. Medium weight yearling steers to feed made to 354c to average 336c, and heavy weight yearling steers to feed made to 346.2c to average 326c/kg.

Light weight yearling heifers were well supplied and made to a top of 332c to average 302c/kg. Medium weight yearling heifers to feed made to 339c to average 323c/kg. Heavy weight yearling heifers to feed made to 330c to average 315c/kg.

A small selection of heavy grown steers made to 334c, and a small sample of heavy grown heifers made to 325c/kg.

Medium weight 2 score cows made to 226c to average 222c, and 3 scores averaged 246c/kg. Good heavy cows made to 287.2c, with a large sample averaging 274c/kg.

With good rain in the local area the cattle market is in fine form. Weaner heifers were making up to 330c, weaner steers up to 360c and from there feeders improved 20c on last week. Top cow reached 287c.
