Yarding 3930 Change -123

There was a small reduction of 123 head to 3,830 at Dalby. Buyer representation was good with a full panel of export processors present and operating, plus the usual feed and trade buyers, as well as local and interstate restockers.

The overall quality of the young light weight cattle was not as good as the previous week and this was reflected in average prices. However well bred lines attracting interstate restockers support sold to very strong demand.

Yearling steers to feed for the domestic market averaged 12c/kg better. Medium weight yearling heifers to feed experienced strong demand and heavy weight yearling heifers to feed sold to a dearer trend. Heavy weight grown steers and bullocks to export processors averaged 4c to 6c/kg better. Cows generally sold to very solid demand with some small price improvements in places.

Light weight yearling steers returning to the paddock made to a high of 594.2c, with a large sample averaging 498c/kg. Yearling steers to feed for the domestic market averaged from 437c to 446c with sales to 466c/kg. Heavy weight yearling steers to feed made to 446c to average 417c/kg. Yearling heifers under 200kg made to 546c to average 498c/kg. Yearling heifers under 280kg averaged 476c and made to 528c/kg. Yearling heifers to feed averaged from 427c to 429c and made to 458c/kg. Heavy weight yearling heifers to feed made to 410c to average 389c/kg.

Heavy grown steers to export processors made to 385c and the bullock portion made to 388c, to average 382c and 383c/kg respectively. Medium weight plain condition cows returning to the paddock made to a top of 314.2c to average 285c/kg. Medium weight 2 score cows to processors averaged 280c and 3 scores 293c/kg. Good heavy weight cows averaged 316c and sold to a top of 324c/kg in pen lots. Heavy weight bulls made to 349c/kg.

GDL report

Slight reduction in yarding this week with only 123 head less. Heavier cows eased 4c to 5c but otherwise market stayed firm on last week. A few good lines of cattle but overall quality decreased from last week. Some decent rainfall of 30 to 80mm in the area the last few days, we are in for a good summer if this keeps up.
