Dalby sale 21 April 2021: Dearer across board for 3603 head

Overall quality was generally good. All the usual export buyers were in attendance and operating, along with the regular feed and trade buyers, plus local and interstate restockers.

Light weight yearling steers to restockers averaged over 20c/kg better.

Yearling steers to feed were firm to 7c/kg dearer.

Light weight yearling heifers under 200kg were noticeably dearer.

Yearling heifers to feed improved in price by 6c, with the heavy weights up to 18c/kg better. A fair selection of heavy grown steers and bullocks to export processors averaged 7c to 15c/kg dearer.

Most classes of cows also experienced a dearer trend of 3c to 5c/kg.

Light weight yearling steers under 200kg returning to the paddock made to a top of 694.2c to average 657c/kg. Yearling steers under 280kg made to 646c with a large sample averaging 586c/kg. Yearling steers to feed for the domestic market averaged from 482c to 507c, with sales to 528.2c, with a few returning to the paddock reaching 580c/kg. Heavy weight yearling steers to feed averaged 435c and made to 454c/kg.

Light weight yearling heifers under 200kg made to 640c with a good sample averaging 612c/kg. Yearling heifers under 280kg average 507c and made to 608c/kg. Yearling heifers to feed averaged in the 460c/kg range and sold to 480c/kg. Heavy weight yearling heifers to feed averaged 413c and sold to 446c/kg.

Heavy weight grown steers and bullocks to export processors averaged 367c to 369c and made to 380c/kg. Medium and heavy weight plain condition cows to restockers made to 300c, and averaged from 288c to 294c/kg. Medium weight 2 score cows to processors averaged 263c and made to 271c/kg.

A large selection of good heavy weight cows made to 314c to average 303c/kg.

Heavy weight bulls made to 322c/kg.
