Dalby sale 10 Jan 2021: Prices lift across most classes

A full panel of export processors was present and operating plus the usual feeder operators and trade buyers, as well as local and interstate restockers.

Prices generally improved across most classes, with light weight yearling steers returning to the paddock reaching a new high level of 712.2c/kg.

Medium and heavy weight yearling steers to feed lifted in price by 14c to 26c/kg. Medium and heavy weight yearling heifers to feed averaged 7c to 19c/kg better.

All classes of cows sold to a dearer trend with plain condition lines returning to the paddock averaging up to 30c/kg dearer. Good heavy weight cows to export processors improved in price by 23c/kg. Yearling steers under 200kg returning to the paddock made to 712c to average 619c/kg. Yearling steers under 280kg averaged 578c and made to 620c/kg. Yearling steers under 330kg made to 585c to average 538c/kg. Medium weight yearling steers to feed averaged 474c and made to 490c/kg. Heavy weight yearling steers to feed made to 447c to average 438c/kg.

Yearling heifers under 200kg returned to the paddock at an average of 598c and sold to 648c/kg. Yearling heifers under 280kg averaged 473c and made to 510c/kg. Medium weight yearling heifers to feed made to a top of 470c to average 444c/kg. Heavy weight yearling heifers to feed made to 446c to average 420c/kg. A handful of bullocks made to 385c/kg. Medium weight 2 score cows returning to the paddock averaged 315c, with a pen of PTIC cows reaching 350c/kg to return $1,761/head. Medium weight 2 score cows to export processors averaged 279c, and the best of the medium weights averaged 310c/kg.

A large sample of good heavy weight cows averaged 322c and made to 329c/kg. Heavy weight bulls made to 360c/kg.

A large panel of buyers competing strongly today, saw a greater increase in the market. Dalby and surrounding areas had some good rain seeing more local restockers wanting to purchase.
