Video market report from Ray White Eastern Rural’s Wyatt Wrigley

Yarding 5428 Change -1501

The supply of stock reduced by 1,500 head to 5,428, and overall quality was not up to the previous week’s standard, however, a good sample of bullocks was included in the line-up.

Buyer attendance was generally good and most were operating. Prices varied across a number of categories with light weight yearling steers returning to the paddock, experiencing a small improvement. Medium weight yearling steers to feed averaged 11c less, while heavy weights to feed averaged 1c to 4c/kg better. Light weight yearling heifers to restockers or background received strong demand, while the lesser quality lines lost 18c/kg. Medium weight yearling heifers to feed and the trade lost 7c to 15c/kg. Heavy grown steers to export slaughter experienced a quality related price fall of 8c, while a lift in the standard of the bullocks resulted in a rise of 3c/kg. Light weight poor condition cows averaged 11c to 14c less and the medium weight 2 scores averaged 7c/kg cheaper. The better end of the cows were firm to marginally easier. A fair sample of male calves made to 271.2c to average 260c/kg. A large selection of light weight yearling steers mostly sold around 276c with a few pens reaching 312.2c, while the poor quality lines averaged 220c/kg. Medium weight yearling steers to feed made to 298.2c to average close to 280c/kg. Heavy weight yearling steers to feed made to 310c with the largest numbers averaging 281c/kg.
