A full panel of export processors was present and operating, along with the regular trade and feeder buyers, plus a good lineup of local and interstate restockers.
Overall quality was mixed and not up to the standard of the previous week, and prices varied accordingly.
Light weight yearling steers returning to the paddock continued to experience very strong support from restockers. Yearling steers to feed varied in price in line with the standard penned.
Light weight yearling heifers returning to the paddock or background averaged 14c/kg better. Yearling heifers to feed for the domestic market sold to strong demand for the quality penned.
Heavy grown steers and bullocks generally sold to a dearer market, with feeder operators in direct competition with export processors.
Cows continued to receive strong support from export processors as well as restockers.
Yearling steers under 200kg returning to the paddock made to 652c to average 587c/kg.
Yearling steers under 280kg averaged 561c and made to 648c/kg.
Restockers were the major buyers in the 280- 330kg range with sales to 568c to average 508c/kg. Yearling steers under 400kg also sold to restockers at an average of 492c with sales to 530c/kg. The feeder classes in the same weight range averaged 439c and made to 462.2c/kg.
Heavy weight yearling steers to feed averaged 420c and made to 448c/kg.
Light weight yearling heifers to restockers or background averaged 499c and made to 576c/kg. Yearling heifers to feed for the domestic market averaged from 402c to 457c with the occasional sale to 518c/kg. Heavy weight yearling heifers to feed averaged 400c and made to 408c, and secondary lines averaged 332c/kg. Medium weight grown steers to feed averaged 372c and made to 401c/kg. Heavy grown steers and bullocks to export processors averaged 372c and sold to 379c/kg. Medium weight 2 score cows to restockers averaged 286c, and heavy weight PTIC cows averaged of 321c and made to 324.2c/kg.
A large sample of good heavy weight cows to export processors made to 313c to average 304c/kg. Heavy weight bulls made to 320c/kg.
