The overall quality was generally good with consignments from far western districts as well as the local supply area.
Export buyer attendance was not as good as the previous week, with one major export processor absent from the buying panel, plus the Victorian processor from the previous sale was also not in attendance.
The regular feed and trade buyers were present and active in the market, along with local and interstate restockers.
Light weight yearling steers continued to be in demand and yearling steers to feed for the domestic market improved in places.
Heavy weight yearling steers to feed averaged 3c/kg better.
Yearling heifers to feed experienced a dearer trend.
A fair sample of heavy bullocks to export processors remained close to firm.
Plain condition cows returning to the paddock averaged 4c/kg better. Despite the absence of some export buyers, cows to processors remained within 2c/kg of the previous week. Yearling steers under 200kg made to 664c to average 614c/kg. Yearling steers under 280kg averaged 545c with sales to 618c/kg. Yearling steers to feed for the domestic market averaged from 464c to 501c and sold to 530c/kg.
Heavy weight yearling steers to feed made to 466c, with one consignment of 132 head making to 442c/kg. Light weight yearling heifers returning to the paddock made to 632c to average from 508c to 516c/kg. Yearling heifers to feed averaged from 435c to 443c and sold to 472c/kg. Medium weight grown steers to feed made to 412c to average 370c/kg. Heavy bullocks made to 375c with a fair sample averaging 370c/kg. Medium weight plain condition cows returning to the paddock made to 335c to average 306c/kg, with one consignment going to Victorian restockers. Good heavy weight cows to export processors averaged 304c and made to 313c/kg.
A run of 122 head of light weight bulls from far western districts made to 529c/kg. Heavy bulls to export processors made to 344c/kg.
