A fair panel of export processors were present and operating, however one major exporter was absent from the buying panel.

The regular feed and trade buyers were in attendance and active along with a large line up of local and interstate restockers.

Useful falls of rain across a large portion of the supply area resulted in most classes of young cattle improving in price.

Light weight yearling steers returning to the paddock averaged over 40c/kg better.

Restockers also competed against feeder operators on yearling steers under 400kg lifting average prices by 13c to 25c/kg.

Heavy weight yearling steers to feed averaged 17c/kg dearer. Most classes of yearling heifers to restockers or feeders followed a similar trend.

A small selection of heavy grown steers and bullocks averaged 3c/kg better.

Cows experienced a mixed trend with plain condition cows returning to the paddock averaging 3c dearer, however cows to export processors averaged 6c/kg less.

Light weight yearling steers returning to the paddock made to a top of 650c with a fair sample averaging 587c/kg. Yearling steers under 330kg to feed averaged 516c and made to 552c, while restockers paid to a top of 594c to average 521c/kg. Medium weight yearling steers to feed averaged 479c and made to 522c with restocker lines making to 460c/kg. Heavy weight yearling steers to feed made to an isolated 500c to average 459c/kg.

Light weight yearling heifers returning to the paddock or background made to 556c with a large number averaging 523c/kg. Yearling heifers to feed averaged from 448c to 490c with sales to a top of 496c, and secondary lines to feed averaging 372c/kg. Heavy weight yearling heifers to feed made to 426c, averaging 402c/kg. Medium weight grown steers to feed made to 434c to average 382c, with some returning to the paddock at an average of 379c/kg. Heavy weight grown steers to export processors made to 384c, averaging 379c, and a few bullocks made to 381c/kg.

Medium weight plain conditioned cows returning to the paddock averaged 305c with some PTIC lines reached 356c/kg. Good heavy weight cows to export processors made to 308c to average 298c/kg.

Heavy weight bulls made to 338c/kg

Good falls in the surrounding area last night saw young cattle improve in price. Heavy export bullocks remained firm, with heavy cows selling to a slightly cheaper trend.
