Yarding 1843 Change -2137

Wet weather saw numbers more than halve for a yarding of 1,843 head. The yarding consisted of a good supply of young cattle and there was a good penning of bullocks, steers and cows. Quality was fair to good with several runs of well finished cattle that were supplementary fed. The yarding of young cattle was made up of a good supply of both yearling steers and heifers.

Competition was stronger from feeder and restocker buyers, with light restocker cattle selling up to 30c/kg dearer. Light restocker weaner steers ranged from 280c to 386c/kg. Medium weight feeder steers averaged 300c, while heavy feeder steers were 7c dearer, to average 295c/kg. Feeder heifers were up to 20c dearer, topping at 318c and averaging 300c/kg.

The yarding of export cattle consisted of several runs of heavy steers and bullocks, with some lots supplementary fed. The market was 10c dearer with heavy bullocks selling to a top of 289c, and steers ranged from 263c to 293c, while heifers sold to a top of 288c/kg. The cow market improved by 7c to 10c, 3 score medium weights averaged 216c and heavy cows sold to a top 228c/kg.

Grant Daniel Long report:

Compared to the last sale this weeks yarding was reduced greatly due to the much needed rain.

This resulted in the market holding firm to 5c-10c dearer for all categories except for heavier feeder heifers which sold for 20c dearer.

The sale was finished by 11.00am and all cattle were weighed by 11.40am. Great to see so many happy faces due to the rain we have had over the last two weeks.
