Dalby sale 18 June 2025: Southern exporters add to competition

There was a small increase in supply to 5565 head at Dalby. Southern export buyers were included in the buying panel along with the regular feed and trade operators. Restocker buyers operated selectively on yearling steers and heifers under 300kg with the steer portion 8c cheaper and the heifers over 30c/kg less.

Medium weight yearling steers to feed average 5c to 10c/kg better and heavy weights held firm. Medium weight yearling heifers to feed were cheaper and heavy weights experienced very little change. A few bullocks and grown heifers to export processors sold to a dearer trend. All classes of cows were in demand and sold to a market 8c to 17c/kg better.

Light weight yearling steers returning to the paddock made to 455c to average 406c to 416c/kg. Yearling steers to feed for the domestic market averaged from 413c to 415c/kg. Heavy weight yearling steers to feed made to 424c and averaged 384c/kg.  Light weight yearling heifers to restockers averaged 285c and made to 346c with some well bred lines over 300kg averaging 340c and making to 361c/kg. Medium weight yearling heifers to feed averaged from 317c to 325c and sold to 360c/kg. Heavy weight yearling heifers to feed made to 360c to average 327c/kg.

The occasional heavy grown steer to the local meat trade made to 396c/kg. A handful of bullocks made to 379c and grown heifers sold to 378c/kg. Medium weight 2 score cows made to 268c and averaged 262c/kg. Heavy weight 3 score cows averaged 280c and best of the heavy weight cows made to 329c to average 304c/kg. Heavy weight bulls made to 320c/kg.

Similar numbers to last week at Dalby. All regular buyers were in attendance and operating with the southern export buyers in attendance also. Bullocks and grown Heifers sold to a dearer trend with all classes of cows sold 8 to 17 cents dearer.
