Dalby sale 15 October 2025: Market softer, despite smaller yarding

The trend of smaller numbers into the saleyards continued at Dalby with a 388 head reduction to 6185 head – still the highest in the state this week.

The number of cows penned also reduced to 919 head along with 447 bulls. All the regular buyers were in attendance and operating in a cheaper market in places.

Light weight yearling steers returning to paddock sold very close to the previous week level. Medium weight yearling steers to feed varied according to quality however heavy weights experienced very little change in price.

Light weight yearling heifers to restockers averaged over 30c/kg less. Yearling heifers to feed averaged 6c to 8c/kg cheaper and more in places. Heavy grown steers and bullocks lost 7c to 17c/kg. All classes of cows lost ground and averaged 8c to 24c/kg less.

Light weight yearling steers to restockers made to the occasional 572c with the largest numbers 477c to 490c/kg. Yearling steers to feed for the domestic market made to 490c to average from 468c to 470c/kg. Heavy weight yearling steers to feed averaged 474c and made 490c/kg.

Light weight yearling heifers to restockers averaged from 361c to 374c with the occasional sale to 408c/kg. Medium weight yearling heifers to feed made 446c to average 394c/kg. Heavy weight yearling heifers to feed made 446c to average 405c/kg.

Bullocks made to 430c to average 416c/kg. Heavy grown heifers supplementary fed made to 415c to average 404c/kg. Heavy weight 3 score cows averaged 359c and the best of the cows averaged 373c. Heavy bulls made to 440c/kg.

A decreased yarding today with all regular buyers attending. There was a mixed quality yarding with a softer trend. Cows were 5 to 10c cheaper, heavy heifers & steers eased by 5c.  Feeder steers held firm with weaner steers 10c dearer & weaner heifers slightly cheaper.
