Numbers increased by 603 head to 5634 and cattle were drawn from a wide area, with 1890 from far Western Queensland plus a couple of consignments from NSW and South Australia.

A full panel of export buyers was present and operating plus a good line-up of feeder buyers and restockers.

Light weight yearling steers returning to the paddock lost a further 3c to 9c/kg. Medium weight yearling steers to feed averaged 3c dearer and heavy weights to feed averaged 8c to 11c/kg better. Light weight yearling heifers sold to a dearer trend and medium weights to feed lifted in price by 4c to 8c/kg. Top price for heavy grown steers and bullocks increased, however the larger samples resulted in very little change to average prices.

Cows improved in price following the losses of the previous sale.

Very light weight drought affected steers made to 346.2c/kg. While yearling steers in the 200-280kg range made to 326.2c to average 293c/kg. Medium weight yearling steers to feed made to 331.2c, with a large sample around 312c/kg. Heavy weight yearling steers over 400kg to feed made to an isolated 333.2c, with most close to 320c/kg.

A large number of light weight yearling heifers to restockers or background made to 288.2c to average 264c/kg. Medium weight yearling heifers to feed made to 306.2c, with a large sample averaging 276c/kg. Heavy weight yearling heifers to feed made to 300.2c to average 293c/kg.

Heavy grown steers to export slaughter made to 318.2c to average 308c, and the bullock portion averaged close to 310c, and made to 319.2c/kg. Medium weight 2 score cows averaged 209c and the best of the medium weights made to 251.2c/kg. Good heavy cows made to 259.2c in pen lots with a large sample averaging 253c/kg.

Heavy bulls made to 269.2c/kg.

It was a mixed yarding of cattle with the market still strong.  Export buyers as well as a strong line up of feeder buyers and re-stockers were mainly present.
