Yarding 4266 Change +581
The number of cattle penned at Dalby increased by 581 head to 4,266 very mixed quality cattle. Export buyer attendance was good and included some Victorian operators. The regular feed and trade buyers plus restockers were also present and active in a cheaper market in places.
Light weight yearling steers returning to the paddock averaged close to the previous weeks level. Yearling steers to feed for the domestic market continued to experience strong support. Heavy weight yearling steers to feed also averaged within a few cents of the previous sale. Light weight yearling heifers returning to the paddock averaged over 20c/kg less. Medium weight yearling heifers to feed averaged 2c to 3c/kg cheaper and heavy weights lost 11c/kg. Cows followed the trend of Southern markets and lost a further 7c to 14c/kg.
Light weight yearling steers returning to the paddock averaged 418c and sold to 460c/kg. Medium weight yearling steers to feed made to a top of 436c with a good sample averaging from 390c to 392c/kg. Heavy weight yearling steers 400 to 480kg made to 416c to average 370c and the over 480kg lines made to 418c to average 374c/kg. Light weight yearling heifers to restockers averaged 305c and made to 350c/kg. Medium weight yearling heifers to feed averaged from 304c to 324c and sold to 350c and heavy weights made to 357c to average 312c/kg.
A couple of heavy grown steers and bullocks made to 330c/kg. Medium weight plain condition cows to restockers made to 248c to average 240c/kg. Medium weight 2 scores to processors averaged 235c and made to 245c/kg. Heavy weight 3 score cows averaged 248c and the best of the heavy weight cows averaged 258c and made to 266c/kg with some returning $2,154/head. Heavy weight bulls made to 310c/kg.

Combined agents yarded 4266 head of cattle in Dalby today with fat cattle selling to a cheaper trend. Quality store cattle sold well while secondary lines of store cattle sold to a softer trend. Regular feed and trade buyers were in attendance as well as normal export buyers and some Victorian operators.
