Yarding 3130 Change -792

The supply of stock reduced by 792 head to 3,130 at Dalby, and overall quality was generally good.

All the usual export buyers were present, however not all were operating.

Light weight yearling steers returning to the paddock averaged 10c to 17c/kg better. Medium weight yearling steers to feed continued to meet very strong competition, and heavy weight yearling steers to feed averaged 4c/kg dearer.

Light weight yearling heifers were in demand and improved a further 26c/kg. Medium weight yearling heifers to feed gained 3c to 12c, and heavy weights to feed and processors averaged 9c to 13c/kg dearer.

A relatively large selection of cows were penned, and processor lines experienced a small improvement of 2c to 3c/kg, and restocker classes continued to receive very strong support. Light weight yearling steers returning to the paddock averaged 452c and made to 498c/kg. Yearling steers in the 280-330kg range sold to restockers at a top of 522.2c, to average 448c/kg. Medium weight yearling steers to feed for the domestic market averaged 419c and made to the occasional 470.2c/kg. A small number of heavy weight yearling steers to feed averaged 419c and made to 428c/kg.

Light weight yearling heifers reached a top of 464.2c to average 415c/kg. Medium weight yearling heifers to feed made to 408c, with a good sample from 381c to 398c/kg. Heavy weight yearling heifers to feed averaged 383c and made to 400c, and processor lines also made to 400c to average 368c/kg. A handful of heavy grown steers made to 390c/kg. Medium weight plain condition cows sold to restockers at an average of 274c, with sales to 284c, and a couple of heavy weights made to 289c/kg. Medium weight 3 score cows to processors averaged 279c and made to 288c/kg. Good heavy cows made to the occasional 314.2c to average 298c/kg. Heavy bulls made to 358.2c/kg.

Due to reduced numbers it was a mixed yarding of cattle. Prices were very strong in all categories. Light Weaner Steers and Heifers increased with male bull calves making 506c and heifer calves 474c.
