Yarding 5392 Change +645
The frosty conditions over a large portion of the supply area increased cattle numbers at Dalby by 645 head to 5,392. Export buyer attendance was good with a few southern exporters included in the lineup. The regular feed and trade plus restocker buyers were also present and active in the market.
Light weight yearling steers returning to the paddock sold to good demand for the quality penned. Medium and heavy weight yearling steers to feed experienced a small improvement. Light weight yearling heifers to restockers varied according to quality with the well bred lines receiving strong support. Medium weight yearling heifers to feed sold to a slightly dearer trend in places. Heavy grown steers and bullocks averaged 20c to 30c/kg better with strong support from southern operators and local butchers. Cows remained close to the previous weeks level.
Light weight yearling steers returning to the paddock made to 473c with a large sample averaging from 415c to 424c/kg. Yearling steers to feed for the domestic market made to 444c with most sales 402c to 410c/kg. Heavy weight yearling steers to feed averaged 384c with sales to 436c/kg. Light weight yearling heifers to restockers averaged from 314c to 323c with sales to 380c/kg. Medium weight yearling heifers to feed made to 372c average from 335c to 345c/kg. Heavy weight yearling heifers to feed also made to 370c to average 329c/kg.
Heavy grown steers to export processors averaged 386c with some to the local meat trade making to 399c/kg. Bullocks made to 385c to average 364c/kg. Medium 2 score cows averaged 251c and made to 258c/kg. Heavy weight 3 score cows averaged 272c and the best of the heavy weight cows made to 313c to average 287c/kg. Heavy weight bulls made to 320c/kg.

Increased yarding in Dalby today with all export & feedlot buyers in attendance. Heavy grown steers & bullocks sold 20 cents to 30 cents dearer. Whilst heavy heifers were 15 cents to 20 cents dearer. Cows remained firm on last week as did feedlot steers & heifers. Backgrounder steers & heifers were of mixed quality with well-bred lines receiving strong support.
