Dalby sale 11 Aug 2021: Returning Vic processor adds to strong demand

A full panel of export processors was present and operating, plus the return of one Victorian export processor.

The usual feed and trade buyers and local and interstate restockers were also in attendance and operating.

Prices continued to improve for a number of classes, with light weight yearling steers returning to the paddock averaging 17c/kg better.

Yearling steers to feed for the domestic market also lifted in price by 7c to 17c/kg.

A large sample of heavy weight yearling steers to feed experienced only quality related price changes.

Light weight yearling heifers returning to the paddock were noticeably dearer and yearling heifers to feed also improved in price.

A good sample of bullocks came forward this week and sold to a dearer trend.

A large sample of cows received very strong support from restockers as well as export processors, with improvements of 9c/kg in places.

Light weight yearling steers returning to the paddock were well supplied and made to 702c to average 602c/kg. Yearling steers to feed for the domestic market averaged from 550c to 564c with the occasional sale to 616c/kg. Heavy weight yearling steers to feed made to a top of 560c to average 502c/kg.

Light weight yearling heifers to restockers were also well supplied and averaged 562c and sold to 648c/kg. Yearling heifers to feed averaged from 501c to 506c with sales to 556c/kg. Heavy weight yearling heifers to feed made to 492c to average 466c/kg.

The good sample of bullocks sold to 436c to average 422c/kg.

Medium weight 2 score cows to restockers made to a top of 332c to average 306c/kg. Heavy weight PTIC cows sold to 430c to average 405c/kg, some returning $3,080/head. Good heavy weight cows to export processors averaged 347c and made to 360c/kg.

Heavy weight bulls were dearer and made to 358c/kg.
