Dalby sale 1 Sep 2021: Market firm for 3893 head

The large buying panel of the previous week returned and included southern representatives.

The regular panel of feed and trade buyers were also in attendance along with a large line up of restockers.

Prices for light weight yearling steers returning to the paddock varied in places according to quality.

Yearling steers to feed improved in price by 20c to 25c/kg.

Light weight yearling heifers to restockers or background sold to strong demand for the quality penned.

Yearling heifers to feed averaged 6c to 19c/kg dearer.

Heavy grown steers and bullocks to export processors were in demand pushed on by southern operators.

All classes of cows sold to a dearer trend with the largest samples returning 24c to 26c/kg better. Light weight yearling steers returning to the paddock made to 638c, with a large sample averaging 596c/kg.

Yearling steers to feed for the domestic market averaged from 534c to 565c with sales to 590c/kg. Heavy weight yearling steers to feed averaged 501c with the occasional pen to 580c/kg.

Light weight yearling heifers made to 618c with the largest sample averaging 546c/kg. Yearling heifers to feed averaged from 507c to 533c with sales to 538c/kg. Heavy weight yearling heifers to feed made to a top of 510c to average 481c/kg.

Heavy grown steers and bullocks to export processors averaged 411c and 412c respectively with sales to 427c/kg.

The occasional pen of very heavy weight bullocks made to 419c/kg to return $3,410/head.

Medium weight plain condition cows returning to the paddock averaged 331c with some heavy weights making to 396c/kg.

Medium weight 4 score cows to export processors averaged 369c and made to 379c/kg.

Good heavy weight cows made to 389c with a large sample averaging 377c/kg.

Heavy weight bulls to export processors made to 366c, and one bull found a new home at 390c/kg to return $3,628/head.

Yarding increased by 924 head. A mixed yarding of younger cattle saw all markets hold firm.  Cows sold to a lot dearer trend with kill cows making up to 396c/kg to average 377c/kg.
