Dalby sale 8 Sep 2021: Market firm for 4783 head

Beef Central, 09/09/2021

Yarding 4783 Change 890

The supply of stock at Dalby lifted to the highest level in the nation this week with agents yarding 4,783 head.

Isolated falls of rain in western areas over the weekend restricted the flow of stock into early week markets, however by mid week little to no rain across eastern districts increased the number of cattle into the market.

The local export processors were present and operating alongside interstate processor, feeder and restocker representatives.

However, some of the local feeder operators were absent from the buying panel.

Light weight yearling steers returning to the paddock improved a further 5c/kg. Yearling steers and heifers to feed for the domestic market received very strong support for the quality penned.

A relatively small sample of bullocks experienced very little change in price and a large selection of cows also sold close to the previous weeks level.

Light weight yearling steers returning to the paddock sold to 682c with a large number averaging from 601c to 628c/kg. Yearling steers to feed for the domestic market averaged from 548c to 576c with sales to a top of 610c/kg. Heavy weight yearling steers to feed averaged 515c with the occasional sale to 550c/kg.

Light weight yearling heifers were well supplied and made to 662c with the largest numbers making from 563c to 598c/kg. Medium weight yearling heifers to feed averaged from 492c to 517c and sold to 560c/kg. Heavy weight yearling heifers to feed reached a top of 482c to average 421c/kg.

Heavy grown steers to export processors made to 424c to average 419c, and the bullock portion averaged 409c and made to 419c/kg. Medium weight plain conditioned cows returning to the paddock made to 370c to average 345c/kg. Good heavy weight cows to export processors averaged 375c and sold to 387c/kg. Heavy weight bulls made to 380c/kg with one bull returning $4,123/head.
