Yarding 4986 Change 67

The overall quality of the young cattle was mixed, while a relatively small very good quality lineup of heavy grown steers and bullocks were penned, along with a larger number of cows.

Buyer representation was good and most were operating.

Steer and heifer calves, plus light weight yearling steers returning to the paddock sold to strong demand to experience only quality related price changes. Medium weight yearling steers to feed averaged 8c dearer, and heavy weight yearling steers to the trade improved by 7c/kg. Light weight yearling heifers to processors averaged 18c better, and restocker or background lines received a small improvement. Heavy grown steers to export slaughter averaged 5c/kg better.

Plain condition cows lifted in price by a further 4c to 12c/kg on top of the improvements experienced the previous sale pushed on by stronger restocker support. Good heavy cows regained some of the losses of the previous week to average 3c to 5c/kg dearer.
