Yarding 4464 Change -522

The mixed quality line up of young cattle contained some very well bred yearling steers and heifers.

A fair sample of heavy grown steers and bullocks came forward, while the number of cows penned almost halved the previous weeks level. The large panel of buyers in attendance included southern processors as well as feeder operators.

A lift in the standard of the light weight yearling steers improved average prices by 26c/kg. A very mixed quality line up of medium weight yearling steers to feed allowed average prices to ease, however the better end sold to very strong demand. Heavy weight yearling steers to feed averaged 5c/kg better.

Yearling heifers generally sold to strong demand for the quality penned. Cows gained a further 3c to 13c/kg with restocker classes improving the most. Steer calves returning to the paddock made to 257.2c to average 239c, and heifer calves sold to 226.2c to average 197c/kg.

Light weight yearling steers to restockers averaged 287c with one consignment of 100 head reaching 336.2c/kg. Medium weight yearling steers to feed made to a top of 314.2c to average 279c/kg. Heavy weight yearling steers to feed averaged 297c and made to 305.2c, and local trade lines made to 314.2c/kg. Light weight yearling heifers to restockers or background mostly sold around 214c, while a consignment of ex stud heifers made to 300c with the largest numbers in the 280c/kg range. Medium weight yearling heifers to feed averaged 240c and made to 262.2c/kg. Heavy weight yearling heifers to feed averaged 243c, and local trade lines made to 295.2c to average 274c/kg.

Heavy grown steers and bullocks averaged 306c, with the bullock portion reaching 325.2c/kg.

Medium weight 2 score cows sold to restockers at an average of 202c with some to 205.2c/kg. Medium weight 2 scores to processors averaged 195c and made to 202.2c/kg. A large sample of good heavy cows averaged 241c with the isolated sale to 258.2c/kg. Heavy bulls made to 288.2c/kg.
